Here is a list of awesome tools that I love to use… Videos planned where I’ll introduce them, but for now- Here’s the grooviest tools for teaching we’ve ever found… We often present on these at workshops and such- so if you’ve heard Me or Jackie speak, we probably talked about these if it was cool and free (or cheap) and online:
STAY CONNECTED WITH THE KIDS
Remind– (FREE) – AWESOME website where you get to send students texts- but they never know your number, and you never know theirs. AWESOME tool. They text during your class… You should text during their weekend. 😉
TOOLS FOR COMMON CLASSROOM TASKS
Class Dojo– (FREE)- Killer tool for keeping track of behavior and rewarding that extra stuff in class that many of us feel is more important. Find out more…
Quia -(CHEAP)- Online tests and quizzes- powerful and easy!
Prezi-(FREEmium) Powerpoint gets groovy.
LMGTFY– LOVE THIS SITE!!!!! animates a mouse that googles a topic for you when kids say they need help. Love it. Technology with snark! 😉
FREE CLASSROOM/CLASS BLOGS
Schoology– (FREEmium) REALLY popular in many districts. Jackie uses it herself for classes. Worth the $$ to upgrade. Check out the video on this page.
Weebly for Education– (FREE)- Free sites for educators and students. Cool service. Joe Dockery- part of the BB Team, LOVES it!
Class Jump– (FREE)- free class websites. Online quizzes, drop boxes, gradebook, everything!
School Notes (FREEmium)- Another free class site. Teachers can post information homework and other class information on their own personal page for parents to access. Free service with banner advertising.
Edublogs– A free wordpress site designed for schools! (We here at BB are HUGE WordPress fans!)
