You have played around with logo design on paper and with only text… Let’s add on to the design toolbox you’re using and add some more tools!! Because of the incredible versatility there is with a computer, you can create logos with the same software and tools the pros use. In this project you’ll learn a few tips and tricks for getting some really amazing ideas out of your head and onto the screen.
Project Objective:
Create a Company Logo using Illustrator.
Team Size:
One member per team. This is an individual project.
Specifications:
- WATCH THESE VIDEOS AND FOLLOW ALONG
- Redesign your logo in Illustrator from project 1.13 adding shapes, line, or editing the path of the letters.
- Create 5 variations of the logo
- At least two of the designs must include edits of the shape of the letters using the direct selection tool.
- At least one design must use the Pathfinder tool and a shape.
- Additionally, create 5 more logos of your own design, (any name, company, or idea that is school appropriate), using all of the tools we’ve learned so far.
- Save your work as “newlogo-lastname1″, “newlogo-lastname2″ , etc. in Illustrator (.ai) format.

Guidelines:
- All the limits are off. Once you’ve learned some of the basics explained here… experiment with some of the other tools!
- Make sure you have included multiple versions of the same logo with slightly different colors/character formatting/alignment
- Make sure you meet all the specifications and use all the necessary tools for this project. You need to have these tools under control!!!
Evaluation:
Your project will be evaluated on the strength and beauty of your logos. Do they represent you well? Do they have different “feeling?” Have you experimented with all the tools and settings?? Did you come up with 10 ideas?
Enrichment:
- Find a web site that relates to this project and summarize it in one or two sentences. Give it a rating of one to five stars concerning it’s usefulness to solving problems in this scenario.
- Create a web page that is a tutorial for other students doing this activity. Explain in detail (with graphics) a specific concept related to this project.
- Research careers related to this project. Write a report on careers related to Graphic Design.
- Create a logo for your school, one of your subject areas, or for a school club
